Indian Police investigating deadly car explosion New Delhi Officials said Tuesday that forensic experts under anti-terrorism laws were working to determine the cause of the blast.
The blast took place near the historic Red Fort late on Monday night, killing at least eight people and injuring several others.
Senior police officials told The Associated Press that the case was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, India’s main anti-terrorism law, which gives investigating agencies broad powers to detain suspects. The officials said this on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Prime Minister Narendra ModiOn a scheduled visit to Bhutan on Tuesday, he said investigators would “get to the bottom of this conspiracy.”
“The conspirators will not be spared and all those responsible will be brought to justice,” Modi said.
Police It said the blast was believed to have originated from a Hyundai i20 car that was stopped at a traffic signal. Nearby vehicles were badly damaged, and photos showed broken windows, twisted metal, and flames engulfing several cars.
Police are trying to trace the owner of the car. There was no immediate information on those believed to have been killed.

Located about 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) from Parliament, the 17th-century monument is a symbolic place where the Indian Prime Minister delivers his Independence Day speech on 15 August every year.
The area around the Red Fort is usually crowded, being the main thoroughfare to the bustling markets of the old city.
