Deoghar (Jharkhand), November 5 (IANS) Panic spread in Belabagan Kalibari area of Deoghar on Wednesday afternoon when a young couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside their rented accommodation.

The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Ravi Sharma and his wife Lovely Sharma, 24, who were married for about a year.

According to the police, the room was locked from inside. When the couple did not come out for a long time and there was no response despite repeated knocks, the neighbors alerted the landlord and later informed the police.

A police team reached the spot, broke the door and found both the bodies lying inside the room.

As the news spread rapidly in the locality, a huge crowd gathered outside the house.

A forensic team was called to the spot to collect samples and investigate the spot.

Police sources said initial observations suggest the incident could be a case of murder followed by suicide, although the exact sequence will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report.

Initial inquiry revealed that Lovely was a resident of Kalirekha in Deoghar, while Ravi was originally a resident of Siwan district of Bihar. He was working in Guwahati before being shifted to Deoghar.

Police said the couple was allegedly facing marital discord since their marriage. A few months ago, Lovely’s family had lodged a complaint at the women’s police station in Deoghar, after which counseling was done and a settlement was reached. After the intervention, the couple started living together again.

Local residents claim that there was a heated argument between the couple late on Tuesday night, after which the incident is suspected to have happened.

After receiving the information, the family members of both the parties reached Deoghar and became inconsolable.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the police have started a detailed investigation on all possible aspects.

Deoghar City police station in-charge said, “We are investigating both murder and suicide theories. The cause of death will become clear after the autopsy report comes.”
