DDC member booked of 5 lakh bribes for school NOC by ACB

Srinagar, July 01, KDC: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar has filed a formal case against the Sing District Development Council (DDC) member and his colleague Ghulam Mohammad Khathana, allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹ 5 lakh in return for the official NOC system for a local school.

The case was registered on the basis of written complaint received by BDC members Mohammad Shaban Chopan, S/O Ghulam Qadir Chopan, R/O Dara Harwan, and one of his Tout Ghulam Mohammad Khat, S/OUMHAMASUS, for R/O Dara Harwan. It reads the objection certificate (NOC) for the boarding school of its scholars established in Dara.

The complainant further alleged that the DDC member managed the official inspection of his campus as a means to pressurize the official inspection of his campus and to demand bribery. The initial installment of 50,000/- with vacant sign check was demanded as part of the total bribe amount.

The allegations were judgedly verified by ACB, and verification confirmed the authenticity of the claims made in the complaint. The verification report clearly reads the demand for bribe by the public representative through its tout.

Accordingly, FIR No. 12/2025 was registered at ACB Srinagar under Section 7 of the Prevention of BNS, and section 7 (2) BNS was registered at Srinagar, and further investigation is going on, it has been said.
