DC Srinagar has consulted with Shia leaders about the arrangement of Muharram, peaceful conduct of processions

Srinagar, June 11: In relation to the upcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat held a consultant meeting with prominent Shia leaders on Wednesday to give suggestions from stakeholders to ensure better facilities to the people.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiaz ul Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Adil Farid, SDM East Zubair Ahmed were present on the occasion.

While representatives of major Shia associations were also part of the meeting including Vichar-e-Hussaini Committee, Anjuman-e-Sharia Shiain, Yusuf Abad Budgam, All J&K Shai Association, Anjuman-e-Sharin, Darul Mustafa Budgam.

On the occasion, DC said that the purpose of organizing talks is to make people convenient by the district administration by making all basic necessary arrangements during the holy month of Muharram, besides suggestions have been sought from stakeholders to ensure smooth peaceful procession during the holy month.

DC also sought cooperation from all Shia associations and other stakeholders in ensuring the smooth conduct of Muharram processions and other religious ceremonies in the best interest of all people.

Responding to the suggestions and issues made by the representatives of Shia leaders, DC assured them that all their real demands would be seen on priority.

Regarding arrangements like electricity and water supply, road repair, sanitation measures, street lighting and first aid facilities, DC said that all concerned departments have already been given necessary instructions.
