A Singapore-flagged vessel “experienced a brief loss of propulsion” before the incident was involved in a bridge collision in Baltimore, the U.S. Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) said on Tuesday.
“Ship management company Synergy Marine Pte Ltd reported to the MPA that the Dali vessel briefly lost propulsion just before the incident,” the agency said in a statement.
“As a result, it was unable to maintain its intended course and collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge,” the statement said, adding that the ship broke down as part of pre-impact emergency procedures.
