Bhopal, Oct 26 (IANS) Unseasonal rain disrupted daily life across Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, with several districts recording heavy rainfall, triggering warnings of possible floods and disruptions.
According to the Bhopal center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state received isolated rainfall in the last 24 hours, caused by a deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal and another depression over the east-central Arabian Sea, which may intensify into a cyclonic storm ‘Month’.
Rain was reported at isolated places in Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal and Sagar divisions; Some places in Jabalpur; Many in Indore; And maximum in Bhopal and Narmadapuram. The rest of the state remained largely dry.
Bhainsdehi recorded 71 mm rainfall, followed by Pati 42 mm, Bhimpur 41 mm, Chicholi 38 mm and Khargone 35.8 mm. Strong winds reached 35 km per hour in Agar Malwa, 33 km per hour in Shajapur and Sagar, 31 km per hour in Sehore and 30 km per hour in Ujjain.
Thunderstorms with lightning struck Indore (excluding Neemuch and Ratlam), Ujjain, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur (excluding Dindori), and districts like Sheopur Kalan, Ashoknagar, Sagar, Damoh, and Tikamgarh. Betul saw heavy downpours.
The temperature dropped significantly; The maximum temperature dropped to 4.9 degrees Celsius in Narmadapuram, 2.2-3.0 degrees Celsius in Indore, Jabalpur and Shahdol. Temperatures were well below normal (3.7-4.5 degrees Celsius) in Indore and Narmadapuram, well below normal (1.6-2.4 degrees Celsius) in other places like Bhopal and Gwalior.
There was no major change in the minimum temperature, but it remained above normal in many divisions, with Shahdol recording a high of 8.3 degrees Celsius.

Synoptic features highlight a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, moving west-northwestwards at a speed of 6 kmph, which may intensify into a cyclonic storm within 24 hours and become a severe storm by October 28, crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast.
The depression in the Arabian Sea is moving towards south-west at a speed of 13 km per hour. From this, a trough has formed till western Madhya Pradesh.
There is a possibility of rain/thunderstorm at isolated places in 31 districts including Bhopal and Jabalpur on Monday; Some of the six like Raisen and Indore; Many of the 15 prefer Narmadapuram and Betul. Strong winds (30-40 kmph) and thunderstorm at isolated places over Mandsaur and Neemuch; Widespread alert for 24 districts.
IMD’s Bhopal center warns of the risk of waterlogging, local flooding, traffic jams, power cuts and lightning.
People have been advised to avoid flooded areas, switch off appliances and protect crops amid the moisture. Farmers were advised to use light traps for pests and prepare Rabi fields.
On Monday, Bhopal city will be cloudy with rain and fog and winds will blow at a speed of 8-10 km per hour. This post-monsoon season may affect agriculture and travel.
