Heavy rain continued in many parts of Telangana on Wednesday and Thursday morning, causing flash floods and waterlogging in low-lying areas in many districts.

A car was seen being washed away while crossing a low bridge over a swollen stream in Lingala mandal of Nagarkurnool district in Telangana. Local people saved the driver with the help of a rope.

The tri-city area of Warangal, Kazipet and Hanamkonda has been hit by heavy rains, with Telangana recording up to 250 mm of rainfall. In many areas the water level is so high that half the tires of the car are submerged in water.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the next two days due to Cyclone Montha, Telangana government has declared holiday in all educational institutions on October 30 as a precautionary measure.

Authorities have been placed on high alert and citizens have been urged to stay indoors unless necessary. People have also been advised to avoid crossing bridges or entering water-logged areas, while fishermen have been strictly warned not to venture into the sea.
The IMD has issued a flash flood warning for 14 districts of Telangana till at least the morning of October 30. It has placed 12 areas under orange alert due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.
