Cyber ​​cell gets more than 11 lakh rupees in cases of online financial fraud in Kupwara

Kupwara, 03 July: In an important success, the cyber cell of District Police Kupwara has successfully solved several cases of online financial fraud and recovered a total amount of 11,06,555.82 (eleven lakh six thousand five hundred fifty-five rupees and eighty-two pace) through a combination of court interventions and advanced cyber strategy.

A police spokesperson said that in the last months, Cyber ​​Cell Kupwara received many complaints related to various types of digital fraud such as online job scams, fake investment schemes, fraud KYC update requests, bridal credit SMS alerts, and copying fraud. Many persons from across the district – including citizens, government employees and defense personnel – fell victim to these scams.

He said that the fraudsters planned several misleading strategies to transfer the victims voluntarily or unknowingly to transfer money to the accounts of fraud. In response, cyber cell rapidly collected digital evidence and coordinated with relevant financial institutions and service providers. With an active and technically sound approach, cyber cells were able to detect fraud transactions and recover money in many cases.

District Police Kupwara appealed to the general public to be vigilant and avoid online threats, including digital arrest scam, fake online trading platform, fraud -cheating credit SMS message, installation of malicious mobile applications, fake Instagram/Telegram job task. Request for sensitive personal information through suspected link or message.

The police advised the public to immediately report any suspected online activity to the National Cyber ​​Crime Helpline in 1930 or go to www.cybercrime.gov.in to file a complaint.
