The PIL has demanded a compulsory quality check of all cuff syrup, as well as a demand to seize the existing stock.
The petition demanded intervention from the court in the case and the investigation of the investigation was demanded from the National Judicial Commission or Expert Committee.
The petition asked all the first information report (FIR) to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case.
MP banned two more phlegm syrup
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government announced a ban on their sale after two more phlegm syrup was found toxic.
After the presence of poisonous substances was found in an investigation report, the government banned the sale of ‘Releiff Syrup’ and ‘Respifresh TR Syrup’.
The report found that the syrup was contaminated with the dyethylene glycol (DEG) chemicals present in excess of the normal range.
Both these phlegm syrup are built in Gujarat and the Madhya Pradesh government has allegedly written a letter to the Gujarat government demanding an inquiry into the matter.
The death toll increases
On the night of Monday, October 6, an 18 -month -old girl died in a hospital in Nagpur. The girl from Chhindwara of MP died of kidney failure after consuming cold cuff syrup.
In Madhya Pradesh, the number of people who died due to consumption of such phlegm syrup has increased to 15.
Due to no new death information from Rajasthan, the death toll in the state remains 3.
The central government is investigating the case and advice is being issued on the situation. The government has banned the Koldrif batch found to be poisonous for DEG chemicals. Officials are coordinating with the state governments to prevent the situation from deteriorating.
