After MS Dhoni resigned as captain of the Chennai Super Kings, former England captain Michael Vaughan made a bold statement on social media. The team took to social media on Thursday to announce Ruturaj Gaikwad as Dhoni’s replacement in the role. The decision marked the end of Dhoni’s glorious reign as CSK captain, during which he led the team to five IPL titles. Dhoni captained CSK in all 14 games ahead of IPL 2023.
“Not having MS Dhoni as captain for @ChennaiIPL!!! makes their situation worse by about 20%.. #IPL24,” Warne, under whom England won the 2005 Ashes, wrote on X.
No MS Dhoni as captain @ChennaiIPL ! ! ! Making their situation worse by about 20%.. #IPL24

In IPL 2022, CSK is also trying to replace Dhoni as they appointed Ravindra Jadeja as captain just two days before the start of the season. But the team had a rocky start to the season, winning just two of its first eight games. As a result, Dhoni was renamed CSK captain mid-season after Ravindra Jadeja relinquished the captaincy to “focus on the game”.
Money talk and sheer cricketing prowess aside, CSK will be favorites to win a sixth IPL title in 2024 with a squad that has all the bases covered.
Rachin Ravindra was the breakout star in the World Cup and now he gets a chance to become a T20 superstar.
Deepak Chahar, the much-maligned seamer who is often accused of making CSK his priority, will be hoping his wrists can speak for him and in the new captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali and With Ravindra Jadeja in the fold, anything can happen.
How can one forget the smiling assassin Dhoni. Dhoni’s love for the maximum is everlasting whenever he hits a six in T20 cricket.
