CS assesses progress on logistics infra projects raised by NHLML

Srinagar, July 13: Chief Secretary, Atal Dullu, today made a comprehensive review of methods for important projects to be raised by National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), including inter model stations (IMS), ropeway and multi-modal logistics park (MMLP).

Those participating in the meeting included Principal Secretary, Finance; Commissioner Secretary, Tourism; Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD; Commissioner Secretary, Forest; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir/Jammu; Secretary, PWD; Secretary, Revenue; DC, Srinagar; CEO, NHLML and other related officers.

The Chief Secretary worked a prominent working to work on all these important infrastructure projects to work a major work. He emphasized the PWD to take the required steps for the construction of SPVs for the establishment of various ropeway projects at various tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir, including one at the Shankaracharya Temple.

Additionally, NHLML is making a detailed project report (DPR) bids for several other ropeway projects in Jammu and Kashmir, including Sonamarg – Thajivas Glacier, Bhadirwaha to Sejdar, Baltal – Amarnath Kev, Doodpathri to Parihal and Nasri Tuling to Doodapathri.

The development of a multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) also came to the discussion in Vijaypur. The project to be developed on the basis of PPP-DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate, transfer) will include facilities such as export/import, container freight stations, warehousing, cold storage and an ICD (inland container depot) for truck terminals.

Later, another important meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary, which was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Works Department (PWD) to review progress and modalities for the acquisition of roads and reviews for the acquisition of roads created by the Indian Railways for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.

The move aims to ensure regular maintenance and maintenance of links of these important roads in twin districts of Rasi and Ramban, which benefits the local population and facilitates connectivity.

These 29 approach roads spread over 201.46 km were constructed by the Railways in the Katra-Banihal section of the USBRL project. These roads were important for transporting labor, material and machinery during the execution of the project.

During the meeting, it was revealed that these roads were to be handed over to J&K PWD for regular maintenance and maintenance. Land acquisition proceedings for these roads have been completed to a large extent, currently no court cases are pending, the meeting was informed.

A memorandum (MOU) will be signed between Railways and J&K PWD to formalize these arrangements to facilitate a smooth transition.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of these roads for local connectivity. He directed the departments holding both stakes to intensify the handover process to ensure their continuous maintenance for the benefit of the public.
