There will be a planned strike by the workers on Saturday cross country Has been suspended.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) said the strike called in November remains in place.
An RMT spokesperson said: “Following progress in negotiations we have suspended strike action this Saturday.
“We are still in dispute and want a negotiated solution.”
Shiona Rolfe, managing director of CrossCountry, said: “While we are pleased with the progress we have made in our negotiations with RMT colleagues, I sincerely apologize for the significant disruption that customers will experience this Saturday 18 October.
“Timetable procedures require train operators to finalize planned services several days in advance, meaning we are not able to reinstate a normal timetable for CrossCountry services for Saturday.
“I would urge everyone planning to travel on CrossCountry routes this Saturday to check their options to change or cancel their journey at no cost on the CrossCountry website.”
