Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he plans to retire from professional football “soon” and is expecting an emotional farewell, predicting he will “probably cry” when the moment comes.

Asked about hanging up his boots, Ronaldo said: “Soon. But I think I’ll be ready. It will definitely be hard. Will it be difficult? Yes. Maybe (I will) cry, yes… I’m (an) open person. (It will) be very, very difficult, yes.
“But Pierce, I’ve been planning my future since I was 25, 26, 27. So I think I’ll be able to handle that pressure.”
