Creator says 'Black Mirror' will return 'just in time for reality'

Critically acclaimed series black mirror Will return in Season 8 Netflixcreator charlie brooke Confirmed.

Brooke revealed on the streaming giant’s official Tudum website that another season of the hit sci-fi drama has been greenlit.

He said the new series will be “more like Black Mirror than ever” and that it will return “just in time for reality to catch up with it”.

The BAFTA-winning series delves into the disturbing aspects of technology and its profound impact on contemporary society, providing social commentary through a series of dystopian cautionary narratives.

Brooker said: “It does have a future, so I can confirm that Black Mirror will be back, just in time for reality. So that’s exciting.”

“That part of my brain has been activated and is buzzing.”

While Brooke didn’t reveal any details, he did talk about how he came up with new stories to tell, comparing it to putting together an album of different types of songs.

He said: “Our early sets were all punk singles, and then we started doing the occasional ballad, like ‘San Junipero,’ or we’d do some dance music.

“It’s like putting an album together with a punk single, a disco song, a stadium rock song, a heartfelt acoustic ballad, etc. It’s fun.”

He added: “This is a useful thought experiment when working on new stories.

“I often think, ‘Okay, what haven’t we done yet? What tone am I looking for? Where does this song sit on the album? What musical direction are we going to go in?’

The show was first nominated for a Golden Globe in December, ahead of the awards ceremony on January 11.

Brooke said he was pleased with the nomination, calling it a “surprise and an honor.”

The series first aired on Channel 4 in 2011 and moved to Netflix in 2015.
