Officials said that Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), October 2 (IANS), on Dussehra Day, the district administration started a major demolition campaign against illegal encroachments in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, in which a marriage hall was brought down on government land in Rao Bujarg village, the officials said.
The operation carried out on Thursday morning converted the area into a heavy security area, with about 200 police and provincial armed Constable (PAC) personnel deployed. In real time, drones were also used to monitor exercise.
According to SDM Vikas Chandra, the marriage hall was constructed on the land recorded as a government pond.
“The village has two government records – plot number 691 nominated for a pond and plot number 459 was placed as a manure pit. The hall stood on the land of the pond, and so it has been demolished,” he said.
The administration also noticed a mosque which came to the land of fertilizer pit in the same village.
However, after the representatives of the Masjid Management Committee requested for four days, the administration provided a temporary adjournment.
“The members of the committee have agreed to voluntarily remove illegal structures in consultation with the District Magistrate themselves,” an official said. This cooperation will help avoid any law-order situation. “
District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia said that the action was strictly taken as per legal provisions.
He said, “There was a 2,310 square meter pond, which was encroached. We are implementing the order of the court only under Section 67. Our team, along with police and revenue officials, carried out the demolition today under proper supervision,” he clarified.
Superintendent of Police, Krishna Kumar Bishnoi, the Superintendent of Police, said that the encroachers were already given enough time. The SP said, “He was served notice and 30 days to remove illegal encroachments. Since they had failed to work, the administration was forced to take action,” the SP said.
By noon, members of the Masjid Committee began to remove disputed constructions on their own. The committee said in a statement, “We are collaborating with the administration to ensure peace and harmony in the region.”
Samajwadi Party MP Ziyar Rehman Barak said that the action of bulldozers being taken by the UP government is unconstitutional and violates the principles of justice.
“The punishment is the only privilege of the judiciary, not administration.
