Counting of death in Delhi building increases by 11, 5 in the hospital

New Delhi:

In the early hours of Sunday, a nightmare was revealed in a part of the national capital when a four -storey building crashed like a card, killing eleven people and injured many.

Around 3 o’clock, the building collapsed at Shakti Vihar in Mustafabad, which got several trapped under the debris. While eleven people were alive by rescue teams, eleven others were declared dead. All the rescued people were rushed to a hospital, where five are undergoing treatment, while six have been discharged.

Using cranes and thermal cameras, Delhi Fire Services, National Disaster Response Forces (NDRF), rescue teams from District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and local volunteers are working through the night. Mustafabad’s crowded Baylan is making it difficult to transfer heavy equipment.

Even though the authorities are yet to comment on the cause of collapse, locals have alleged that a divided wall on the ground floor was removed without strengthening the columns, which weakened it.

The incident recently occurs on the heels of the collapse of a building in Madhu Vihar during a dust storm, killing one.

One local said, “They should have investigated the building. We kept saying that it was shaking after the rain. But no one came.”

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra has convicted the collapse on large -scale illegal construction in unauthorized colonies. “All such colonies are unauthorized. We will work against officials of MCD (Delhi Corporation of Municipal Corporation) who approved these houses.”

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has assured strict action against the culprit. “Strict action will be taken against criminals. The inquiry has been ordered,” he posted on X.
