Srinagar: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir Wing (CIK) of Jammu and Kashmir CID on Tuesday said it has rescued two teenagers from getting trapped in the web of terrorism through online radicalization.

“The CIK has foiled an online radicalization plot and prevented two teenage boys from falling into the terror trap,” an intelligence wing statement said on Tuesday.

CIK has once again demonstrated its exceptional professionalism, cyber intelligence skills and social outreach capabilities by dismantling digital radicalization networks operating through multiple social media platforms.

“The timely operation not only neutralized the propaganda machinery of a terrorist organization but also saved two impressionable young boys from being recruited into terrorism,” the statement said.

Acting on precise intelligence inputs and continuous cyber surveillance, the CIK identified two radicalized social media handles – ‘loyalist_warrior57’ and ‘gurkaboru.08’, which were engaged in glorifying terrorism and spreading extremist narratives.

These accounts were actively sharing propaganda material, including audio clips and digital content of known terrorists, designed to sow discord, promote separatist sentiment, and attract vulnerable youth to violent extremism.

After detailed technical analysis, the operators of these accounts were identified as: Hashim Mashood Lone, s/o Mashood Ahmed Lone, r/o Khwajabagh, Malura, aged approximately 17 years and Mohammad Haziq Ahangar, s/o Farooq Ahmed Ahangar, resident of Railway Colony, Naugam, aged approximately 15 years.

Both men were traced, held for questioning and found to be teenagers. Digital forensic examination of Hashim’s mobile device established him as the user of ‘Gurkboroo.08’, and evidence revealed that he was disseminating terrorist content under the direct guidance of an online handler.

“The investigation further revealed that he was using encrypted communication tools and VPNs to maintain covert contacts with cross-border operators. Subsequent inquiries revealed the online handler, operating under the alias ‘Saqib’ (real name Ahmed Salar), was a Pakistan-based propagandist associated with The Resistance Front (TRF). Salar was attempting a sophisticated online sermon, taking advantage of social media. Vulnerable youth are manipulated through ideological training, false promises and glorification of terrorist activities,” it said.

The second teen, ‘Haziq’, who was operating the handle ‘loyal_warrior57’, was influenced by the same handler.

The digital traces revealed instructions, emotional manipulation and ideological conditioning aimed at luring both minors deeper into extremist networks.

“Through careful coordination, superior cyber analytics and swift operational execution, CIK successfully disrupted the network, effectively stopping the recruitment of two teenagers and thwarting an emerging radical threat that could jeopardize community safety,” the statement said.

Recognizing the social dimension of this threat, CIK organized joint counseling sessions involving families of adolescents, community elders, and local religious scholars.

“These sessions aim to help young people and their parents understand the serious consequences of radicalization and the importance of responsible digital engagement. This initiative highlights CIK’s compassionate approach, combining operational excellence with social responsibility and strengthening community collaboration against extremist exploitation,” the statement said.
