Conrad Sangma's party backs NDA candidate in Manipur, Nagaland

Conrad Sangma said NDA partners were supporting each other in the Northeast.

The National People’s Party, led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, has announced that it will support the Lok Sabha candidates of the Nagaland National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Manipur Naga People’s Front (NPF) )Nominee.

NPP national president Sangma, after meeting Nagaland Chief Minister and senior NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio, said his party will support NDPP candidate Chumben Murry for the lone seat in Nagaland.

Mr Murree is the unanimous candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA), which leads the multi-party coalition government in Nagaland.

Mr. Sangma told the media that the NPP will also support NPF candidate Kachui Timothy Zimik for the Outer Manipur seat. He added that his party will support the BJP’s nominees for the two Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh – Union ministers Kiren Rijiju (Arunachal West) and Tapio (Arunachal Pradesh). Nachardong).

The NPF appointed Mr. Zimik to replace incumbent MP Lorho S. Pfoze.

The NPP, NPF and NDPP are allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Mr Sangma said the NDA partners were supporting each other’s candidates in different states in the Northeast.

The BJP had earlier announced support for the NPP candidates for two assembly seats in Meghalaya, the NPF candidate for the Lok Sabha seat in Outer Manipur and the NDPP contender for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland.

However, it is yet to announce a candidate for the Manipur seat.

The NPP, which dominates Mr Sangma’s Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, has fielded state minister Ampareen Lyngdoh from Lok Sabha constituency in Shillong and renominated one from Tula Agatha K. Sangma.

Agatha K. Sangma, sister of Conrad Sangma, was the youngest federal minister during the second UPA government.
