Patna, October 16 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, known for his fiery speeches, on Thursday officially entered the Bihar Assembly election campaign and launched a scathing attack on the Congress and RJD.
Addressing a massive rally in Patna’s Danapur on Thursday, he launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, invoking shared cultural and spiritual ties between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and accusing them of promoting “jungle raj and nepotism” in the state.
He said, “Uttar Pradesh and Bihar not only share a bond, but also a common heritage – a bond of one soul, one culture and one resolve. This bond is as unbreakable as the bond between Lord Ram and Mata Janaki.”
Yogi Adityanath reminded the audience of Bihar’s political past, saying that from 1990 to 2005 the state suffered from Jungle Raj, where knowledge and spirituality were replaced by nepotism and crime.
“They (Congress and RJD) turned Bihar’s spiritual land of knowledge into a land of nepotism and crime, creating an identity crisis for our youth,” he said.
He said, “The NDA government has worked for 20 years to free Bihar from that stigma. Today the double engine government is working for effective development.”
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister targeted the opposition India Bloc and accused it of rigging the elections and hatching a conspiracy to hamper the development of Bihar.
“The NDA government supports transparent voting, but the Congress, RJD and their allies say there should be rigging. Should they be given the right to rig the elections? Should foreign infiltrators be allowed to come here and rob the rights of Dalits, the poor and the citizens of Bihar?” He said.
He further claimed that Uttar Pradesh has already ended the mafia rule and similar rule should continue in Bihar.
Appealing to voters to ensure the NDA’s return to power in Bihar, he said, “The mafia in Uttar Pradesh has already gone to hell. We have also confiscated their properties and started building houses for the poor.”
After his Danapur rally, Yogi Adityanath addressed another meeting in Saharsa, where he intensified his attack on the opposition.
He said, “The welfare of the poor was never on the agenda of Congress or RJD. Family welfare was their only agenda. When Congress tried to strangle democracy, only Bihar stood up. Today RJD has mortgaged itself to the same Congress. They are destroying the dreams of Jayaprakash Narayan.”
