The incident reportedly happened when Rahul Gandhi got off his bus to meet people during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. “The car of Ramesh ji and some others was on its way to join the main yatra group near Jamugurighat when it was attacked,” All India Congress Committee (AICC) communications coordinator Mahima Singh told the news agency. PTI,
“We informed the police and the Additional Superintendent of Police is at the spot now,” the AICC leader said.
Singh said that Nyaya Yatra stickers were torn from his vehicle and the attackers attempted to put a BJP flag on the vehicle, due to which the rear glass of the vehicle was almost broken.
“A vlogger covering the trip had his camera, badge and other equipment snatched away. Members of the party’s social media team were also assaulted”, Singh said.
Singh said a BJP program was being held in the area and some media persons had got down from their vehicles to capture some scenes. “They created a very intimidating situation for us. They have refused to return the vlogger’s camera and claimed that it was not snatched.
