Patna, October 10 (IANS) Former Bihar Congress president and Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Singh on Friday claimed that if the India Bloc government is formed in Bihar, it will take strict and decisive action against the mafias operating across the state.
He claimed that Congress has already identified 12 types of mafias, who have kept Bihar under their control for the last 20 years.
Addressing the media in Patna, Singh said, “As soon as the India Bloc government is formed, Bihar mafia will be free. There will be only two places for mafias – hell or jail. There are only two solutions for mafias: a bullet in the back and a kick in the stomach.”
The Congress leader alleged that under the current NDA government, looting and extortion is taking place on a large scale in Bihar.
He listed several categories of mafias, including microfinance, land, sand, liquor, contracting, education, recruitment, mining, health and adulteration mafias, and vowed strict action against each.
She said more than nine lakh women are trapped in microfinance loans, often facing harassment and violence from recovery agents.
“We will take action to recover their debts and seize the assets of those responsible,” he said.
Singh said a special task force and drone surveillance would be deployed against sand mafias, while e-tendering would become mandatory for all public construction projects to curb contract and corruption-related mafias.
He promised zero tolerance towards officials taking bribes and strict monitoring of transfer-posting mafia, adding that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and inter-state coordination would be formed to dismantle the contract killing network.
Accusing the current government of large-scale corruption, Singh said, “In this government, ministers are getting huge sums of money. Where is this money coming from? This is a government of unbridled corruption – their place is in jail. I have also been a minister, but I have nothing more than a house in Patna.”
Responding to reports that senior Congress observers have not met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Singh rejected any tension between the two allies.
He said, “There was no such issue. Lalu Prasad’s door is always open.”
