A Congress leader’s derogatory post on actor Kangana Ranaut’s campaign debut has sparked fresh controversy, with the National Commission for Women demanding action against the politician.

The post with Ms Ranaut’s photo on Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate’s Instagram account was posted weeks before the national elections. Ms. Ranaut is contesting the election on a BJP ticket from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

The “Queen” actor responded to Ms Shrinath’s comments on social media, noting that she has played different female characters “from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalevi”.

Ms Shrinate posted a video to clarify and said she had deleted “inappropriate posts” that had been posted on her account without her knowledge.
