Bengaluru, Oct 27 (IANS) Minister of State for PWD Satish Jarkiholi, who was projected by Siddaramaiah’s son as the successor to the current chief minister, said in Bengaluru on Monday that no Eknath Shinde will emerge from Karnataka and the high command will decide on the post.

Minister Satish is a close confidant of CM Siddaramaiah.

Current Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde along with his supporters joined hands with BJP and toppled the Uddhav Thackeray led coalition government in 2022.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Minister Satish Jarkiholi said in response to a media question, “Eknath Shinde is only one person. There is no one else like him. Everyone will remain in the Congress party, no one is going anywhere.”

He said, “The high command will decide on who should be the chief minister. There is no point in me making any demand. The party has 70 years of experience, and they will decide. This will not happen just because I or anyone else makes a claim. I have not made any demand, nor will I make any demand in future. I have been entrusted with the responsibility of becoming a minister and I have to fulfill that duty.”

Commenting on statements of “November revolution” within the Congress, he said, “The party high command will not allow any such November revolution. Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar are the only examples of this. There is no possibility of another Shinde or Pawar emerging in state politics. Anyway, we are at the end of October, and November is round the corner. Just a few days away – let’s wait and see how things unfold.”

When asked about the demand for a Dalit Chief Minister and Home Minister G Parameshwara’s support to KH Muniyappa for the post of CM, Jarkiholi said, “At present there is no such opportunity. We have to wait for the right time. The opportunity has to come and till then we should wait. Regarding the demand for a Dalit CM, I have said earlier also that if we get a chance then it is good. Everyone has said the same.”

“Ultimately, who should be made the chief minister and from which community – this decision will be taken by the high command. They will take the decision in the best interest of the party,” he said.

Commenting on CM Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Yatindra Siddaramaiah projecting him as his father’s successor, Jarkiholi clarified, “Yatindra has not talked about the chief ministerial post or the party leadership. He has only talked about ideology.”

Meanwhile, sources confirmed that Ahinda leaders representing minority, backward and Dalit communities in the Congress party are planning another meeting in Bengaluru soon in a show of strength. The meeting will reportedly be organized by Home Minister G Parameshwara, Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi.

MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had recently said that his father is at the end of his political career.

Yatindra said, “Today, my father is at the end of his political life. He is in the last phase of his political career. At this time, for those who embrace scientific and progressive ideas, PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi will take the responsibility and provide leadership. Minister Satish Jarkiholi will also play a leading role in showing the way to all those who believe in the ideology of the Congress party. I am confident that he will set an example in this regard. It is rare.” To find leaders committed to the ideology. Yatindra said, Minister Satish Jarkiholi has taken this responsibility and I request him to continue his work in this direction.
