Bhubaneswar, 18 September (IANS) Congress on Thursday, formally transferred a no -confidence motion against the BJP -led government in Odisha.
Congress leaders have presented a letter to Chairman Surma Padi through Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout.
Talking to media persons, senior Congress leader Taraprasad Bahinipati said, “We have presented a letter with the signature of 15 MLAs-14 Congress MLA and a Communist Party of India-Marksist to-Saha-Saha-Sambhir to the speaker for one-confidence motion against the Odisha government, no person.
Meanwhile, Congress CLP leader Ram Chandra Kadam said that the party will discuss with the opposition opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD), seeking their support for the no -confidence motion.
He said that earlier Odisha Congress President Bhakta Charan Das had offered the support of the party if the BJD brought a no -confidence motion.
Kadam said, “The party president of our state also urged the BJD to support the proposal when he is transferred by the Congress. Today, we will also go to his (BJD) office and discuss the issue.”
BJD chief Whip Phamila Mallik said that the Congress has not discussed the issue of mistrust with the party.
He said that the chairman of the BJD Naveen Patnaik will hold a stand on the issue after discussion.
Meanwhile, BJP leader J Narayan Mishra said that the no -confidence motion transferred by the Congress will not have any impact on the state government.
The Congress on Wednesday announced a motion of no confidence against the BJP -led state government, claiming that the latter did not meet the expectations of the people and failed to address various issues like violence against women, farmer crisis, education sector corruption, etc.
