New Delhi, 6 October (IANS) The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by Congress MLA Matthew Kujalnadan, seeking vigilance in alleged monthly payment transactions between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and excellent monthly solutions.
A bench led by Chief Justice Bra Gavai, India along with Justice Vinod Chandran, dismissed the petition, while given that the courts should not be converted into platforms for a political battle.
The Chief Justice commented, “Political disputes should be resolved outside the court.”
Justice Chandran said that with the active role of Kujalnadon in disaster management and relief work, such activism is required to “do not need to be extended in every field”.
Kujalnadon had approached the apex court challenging the order of the Thiruvananhanthapuram Vigilance Court, challenging the Kerala High Court’s verdict, which rejected his request for an inquiry.
Both these courts had not found any basis for ordering vigilance investigation in the case.
After the dismissal, the Congress MLA said that his petition was rejected on technical grounds, but claimed that his political and legal battle would continue on the controversial monthly payment issue.
The controversy arose from Kuzalnadon’s allegation that a Kochi-based company, CMRL, suggested a possible struggle of the interests of the Chief Minister’s family, a Kochi-based company made a monthly payment.
The state government and concerned people have constantly denied allegations, they have been called “politically motivated”.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Courts will hear arguments related to the investigation of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) on the same issue on 28 October and 29 October.
