Vijaypura, October 4 (IANS) Karnataka BJP on Saturday urged the Congress -led state government to conduct immediate survey of crop damage and provide compensation to the affected farmers.
Leader of Opposition in the state assembly R. Ashok made a statement after visiting the floods and chickpeas and sugarcane crops in the Vijaypura district to damage affected areas and demanded that the Congress -led government should immediately survey crop damage and compensation to the farmers of the state in crisis.
Ashoka led the delegation, in which the opposition head of the Legislative Council, whip n. Ravikumar, and former National General Secretary of BJP and Member of Legislative Council CT Ravi, BJP MPS Ramesh Jigjinagi and PC Gaddigudar and others were included. He visited the Bhima and Doni river areas to assess the situation and listen to the complaints of farmers and visited areas and farms affected by heavy rains and floods.
He expressed concern over the massive destruction of chickpeas, sunflower and sugarcane crops. He also inspected the damaged houses due to rain and visited water -watery houses to hear from the affected families.
The delegation visited several villages including Anjutgi, Akkhed, Miragi and Devanagava to inspect the flood situation. Ashok suffered a moment -out of a blow to see the damage to crops caused by excessive rainfall and river floods, which submerged in large areas of the farm.
He expressed concern over the huge destruction of chickpeas, sunflowers and sugarcane crops due to flood waters.
The farmers expressed their pain, saying, “The rain had come well well, so we expected good crops in this season. We expected our difficulties, but heavy rains and floods have put us in trouble again. Nobody has heard our complaints.
In response, R. Ashok assured the farmers, saying, “This government is non -responsible. Even during such crises, they lack etiquette to travel to the affected areas. But as the opposition, we will be your voice and will push the government to work. We are with you; don’t be with you;
During the trips, many farmers presented written statements to opposition leaders, giving details of their losses and demands.
