The cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi increased the minimum price offered by mills to sugarcane growers by Rs 25 to Rs 340 per quintal for the 2024-25 season starting from October.
An official statement after the decision said, “The new FRP will ensure prosperity of sugarcane farmers. It is noteworthy that India is already paying the highest price for sugarcane in the world and yet the government is ensuring the cheapest sugar in the world to domestic consumers.
Responding to other Cabinet decisions, he said the steps taken with regard to the National Livestock Mission will bring major growth in fodder production and breed conservation as well as exciting opportunities for entrepreneurs.
The government on Wednesday revised the National Livestock Mission by including various activities and provided 50 per cent capital subsidy to individuals and organizations to set up horse, donkey, mule and camel entrepreneurship.
The government on Wednesday eased foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in the space sector by allowing 100 per cent foreign investment in making components for satellites, as part of efforts to attract foreign players and private companies into the sector.
Appreciating this, PM Modi said, “Creating new orbits for growth and innovation! Our government has updated the FDI policy in the space sector, paving the way for a galaxy of opportunities.”
