Commissioner SMC conducts extensive reviews for Muharram-ul-Haram system

Srinagar, June 04: In view of the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram, Commissioner SMC Dr. Ovis Ahmed presided over a detailed high level review meeting in the Central Office of the Corporation in Karan Nagar today.

The meeting was attended by senior SMC officials, line departments and major Shia organizations including all Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association, Anjuman-e-Shar Shiyan (Budgam) and Shariyat Abad Bugam.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner SMC emphasized that all arrangements should reflect the purity of the month and ensure that the bereavers inspect rituals with full dignity, security and ease.

He emphasized on focusing special focus on keeping the procession routes, emblems and areas clean and clean. In addition, he directed that ensure sharp repair of internal roads to ensure smooth movement during the procession.

The Commissioner called for uninterrupted water supply and deployment of water tankers at major points to meet public needs.

He also instructed for immediate repair of streetlights, especially in Shia-Bahul areas, to be well burnt at night.

The commissioner directed the concerned authorities to ensure installation of watering pumps, deseling of surface drains, and repair of garbage guards.

Dr. Ovis urged the departments to work in close coordination and respond quickly on any emerging issues. “We want to ensure that this holy month is celebrated in peace and respectfully. Every small details matters,” he said.

He also appreciated the cooperation of community leaders and confirmed SMC’s commitment to serve the people. “Our job is not only about civil work – it is about standing with the community during critical time.”
