An 86-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a couple more than 30 years ago.
Harry and Meghan Tooze were found dead in a cowshed at their farmhouse in Llanharry, near Cardiff, on 26 July 1993.
South Wales Police arrested a man today and he is currently in police custody.
The force launched a forensic review of the case in 2023 in the hope of uncovering new evidence into the murders of Mr Toews, 64, and Mrs Toews, 67.
Detective Superintendent Mark Lewis said: “While this arrest is clearly a significant development in the investigation, our inquiries are very much ongoing.
“This case has impacted many people over the years and our aim is to find answers to the unanswered questions that have remained about his death for 30 years.
“Even with this time passing, I appeal to anyone who has any information regarding the murders to come forward and speak to police.”
The couple left home on the morning of 26 July 1993 to collect their pension in Llanharry.
At around 1:30 in the afternoon, neighbors heard two gunshots.
However, emergency services were not alerted as the noise was considered normal on the farm.
The police were called when his daughter’s routine phone calls went unanswered.
Authorities attended Ty Ar Wai Vaughan Farm and discovered the couple’s bodies in a cow shed.
