Gorakhnath, October 22 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Govardhan Puja and wished for their happiness, prosperity and well-being.
Marking the auspicious day, the Chief Minister performed traditional rituals at the Gaushala of Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, where he worshiped the cows and fed them jaggery and fodder.
In the post shared on Twitter, CM Yogi wrote, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the devotees and people of the state on the sacred expression of public welfare resolution of cow progeny promotion and nature conservation through Govardhan Puja!”
He further said, “May the grace of Lord Shri Krishna illuminate everyone’s life with the light of happiness, prosperity and good health.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the spiritual and ecological significance of Govardhan Puja and described it as a festival reflecting the agricultural and cultural values โโof India.
“Cow mother is the foundation of our faith and culture, the nourishing power of nature, environment and traditions. The sacred expression of commitment towards the welfare of people through cattle promotion and conservation of nature, the symbol of India’s agricultural system, was expressed today on the occasion of Govardhan Puja by worshiping Gomata with full rituals in the Gaushala located in the Gorakhnath temple complex. By feeding jaggery to the cattle and serving them, CM Yogi said.
Govardhan Puja is celebrated on the first lunar day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik, which marks the fourth day of Diwali festival. On this day, devotees worship Mount Govardhan and offer a variety of food to Lord Krishna as an expression of gratitude.
The festival commemorates the episode from the Bhagavata Purana where Krishna lifted Mount Govardhan to save the villagers of Vrindavan from torrential rains โ a symbol of divine protection for those who take refuge in the faith.
