Ujjain, October 28 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav extended hearty greetings and good wishes to the citizens on the auspicious occasion of Chhath festival, which is celebrated with great devotion in Purvanchal and North-Eastern regions.
He said that the holy festival of Chhath Maiya is based on scientific principles and revolves around the worship of Sun and water. Lord Suryanarayan sustains the universe by providing energy, while life itself originated from water.
Chhath Vrat inculcates self-discipline, restraint and inner strength. The worship of the setting and rising sun makes this festival truly unique.
Chief Minister Yadav addressed the devotees after attending the Chhath Puja organized at Vikram Sarovar located in the Samrat Vikramaditya University campus in Ujjain on Tuesday.
Yadav said Bihar has been a guiding force for India for a long time and is under the divine blessings of the Almighty. Bihar is the land of Lord Buddha and Mahavir, who gave knowledge not only to the country but to the entire world.
Yadav further said that Madhya Pradesh has ancient and cultural relations with Bihar. He said that many big rivers originating from Madhya Pradesh join Ganga and Yamuna rivers and flow in Bihar.
He said, “Madhya Pradesh is often described as the motherland of rivers. The sacred waters of the Shipra River reach Bihar through the Chambal, Yamuna and Ganga rivers. Similarly, the Son River, originating from Amarkantak, enriches Bihar through the Ganga River.”
