Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced a pre-Rs 2 lakhs of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and started a cloudburst in Tejashwi for the floods of seriously injured people of Rs 1 lakh.
The government of Jammu and Kashmir will also provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to those who suffered minor injuries. The government will provide Rs 1 lakh for a fully damaged structures, Rs 50,000 for severely damaged structures and Rs 25,000 for partially damaged structures from CM’s relief fund.
CM Omar Abdullah announced today after visiting the cloudburst-affected areas of Kishtwar and met the affected families.
In a post on X, JK CMO said, “The Chief Minister today visited the cloudburst-affected areas of Kishtwar and met the affected families. They expressed deep grief over the loss of life and damage and said that the government stands firmly with people in this hour. The injured, Rs 50,000 for minor injuries.
Earlier in the day, JK CM met with families affected by flash floods due to cloudburst in Chasoti village in Kishtwar district.
CM Abdullah also reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operations and received a detailed briefing from the army personnel. He used a virtual reality (VR) headset to review the destruction and said that immediate relief measures would be taken to support the affected families.
Cloudbers, which took place along the Machel Mata Yatra route, triggered flash floods and widespread destruction on Thursday, killing at least 60 people.
On Friday, Abdullah confirmed the deaths and said that the number of missing people was still being verified.
“Around 60 bodies have been found. The number of missing persons is being assessed. After the conclusion of rescue and relief operations, we will inquire whether the administration may have taken any preventive step when the Met Department issued a warning and also advised people to say what is not needed.
