CM Umar announced a pre-Rs 10 lakh pre-Gratia for the families of Pak Shelling victims

Jammu, May 10: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced a pre-Rs 10 lakh-Gatia for the next family members of those who lost their lives in Pakistani shelling in the center area.

An additional District Development Commissioner and 19 villagers were killed in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu and Baramulla areas in the last four days, when the Indian armed forces killed nine terrorist infrastructure targets on the border on 7 May in vengeance of last month’s Pahgam terror attack.

While 12 civilians were killed in Poonch on Wednesday, Uri and two other people were killed in Ponch on Friday. Another five civilians, including a senior government official, lost their lives in Pakistani shelling on Saturday morning.

The Chief Minister said in a post on X, “Recent shells from Pakistan caused deep pain to innocent people. My government is taking all possible measures to reduce the difficulty of our people.”

The post shared by the Chief Minister’s office said, while any compensation can never change a loved one or correct the shock to the family, as a gesture of support and solidarity, pre-Rs 10 lakh pre-Rs 10 lakh relief will be provided to the families of all those who are deceased.

The Chief Minister said, “We are standing with every affected family in this hour of grief.”
