CM Stalin today to visit Ramanathapuram; Drone banned for two days

Chennai, October 2 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will reach Ramanathapuram district on Thursday evening as part of his ongoing outreach drive across the state before the 2026 assembly elections.

CM Stalin will fly from Chennai to Madurai and travel by road to Ramanathapuram. In Parthibanur on the district border, they will be obtained by senior DMK leaders, including Minister Raja Kannappan and District Secretary Katrapathy Muthuramlingam, as well as with top officials. The Chief Minister will then move forward in the city of Ramanathapuram, where he will spend the night in the government guest house inside the Collectorate Complex.

On Friday morning, Stalin is scheduled to attend a major government function in Pervur near Ramanathapuram. He will inaugurate a series of full infrastructure projects, including the new Ramanathapuram bus stand, and laying foundations for the latest development works.

Around 54,000 beneficiaries are expected to receive various government welfare packages during the incident.

Ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior bureaucrats will participate in the program. In view of the Chief Minister’s visit, the District Police Chief has imposed a two -day ban on flight of drones and other unmanned air vehicles at major places including Parthibanur, Paravur and Collectorate. The objective of the order is to ensure safety and smooth operation of the program.

The journey is part of the broad district tourism of Stalin, who has raised the speed since mid -2010, a combination of administrative review with direct conversation with the public.

In the last one year, he has visited several areas from Tanjavur and Kanchipuram to Kudalore and Nilgiris, starting welfare schemes, inspecting flood mitigation projects and assessing development works.

The DMK leadership considers these tourism important to consolidate its Aadhaar and to compete against the opposition parties to focus a renewed political gathering, including AIADMK-BJP alliance and emerging outfits such as Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazgam.

Along with 2026 assembly elections, the Chief Minister’s district-level engagement has given the pair of importance, both to highlight the DMK rule records and strengthen the party’s direct engagement with local communities. The Friday incident in Ramanathapuram is expected to draw a large crowd and show the government’s welfare and infrastructure in the southern districts.
