Chennai, Nov 3 (IANS) In a sharp political attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin challenged him to ‘repeat in Tamil Nadu what he said in Bihar’, and said no false propaganda or political manipulation can stop the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from forming the next government in the state in 2026.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing a gathering at the wedding ceremony of a family member of DMK MP A Mani in Dharmapuri.
CM Stalin had earlier flown to Salem from Chennai in a private plane and went to Dharmapuri by car to attend the event and bless the couple.
During his address, CM Stalin accused the Election Commission of India of hatching a conspiracy through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, describing it as a “malicious practice”.
He alleged that the process was aimed at alienating genuine voters, especially those considered anti-BJP, ahead of crucial state elections.
He said, “To stop this undemocratic move, we called an all-party meeting and passed a resolution condemning the SIR. The Election Commission’s decision to conduct a complete revision of the voter list just months before the elections is part of a well-planned strategy to remove legitimate voters.”
CM Stalin said the same strategy was used earlier in Bihar, where lakhs of genuine voters were reportedly removed from the list. He said that opposition to this controversial process first came from Tamil Nadu, after which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the opposition leader from Bihar also expressed strong objection.
CM Stalin said, “Even after the legal case was registered, the Election Commission did not give a satisfactory explanation.”
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Hitting out at Palaniswami, CM Stalin accused him of “playing a double game” and “being afraid of the Election Commission because of his links with the BJP”.
He said that while migrant workers from Bihar have found livelihood and respect in Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister is “playing political drama in Bihar for electoral gains.”
Giving a political challenge, CM Stalin said, “Let the Prime Minister come to Tamil Nadu and make the same comments which he made in Bihar.” “No matter how many lies are spread against us, people will ensure that a DMK-led government is formed once again in 2026.”
