Chennai, 6 October (IANS) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, has ordered 20 percent bonus and pre–Gratia payment for the state-run corporations and boards, including Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and State Transport Corporations, for the financial year 2024-25.
The objective of the decision is to recognize and reward the efforts of the workers and promote morale before the festive season.
In a government statement, CM Stalin said that the step is part of the state’s commitment to support his workforce and encourage better performance in public sector undertakings (PSUs).
The order includes classified employees under the ‘C’ and ‘D’ categories, which make the backbone of operations in these organizations.
Under the new scheme, employees of public sector units earning profit in ‘C’ and ‘D’ grade will receive 8.33 percent of their annual wages as a statutory bonus and an additional 11.67 percent, a total of 20 percent in the form of pre-Gratia, a total number of total 20 percent.
Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TangedCO), State Transport Corporation, Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Trading Corporation (TNCGTC), and Tamil Nadu Milk Productions Cooperative Federations (Aavin) will also get full 20 percent, they will also get full 20 percent for this.
The state will still expand the relief-a minimum of 8.33 percent bonus, as well as 1.67 percent pre-gratia, a total of 10 percent.
In the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), workers will also get 8.33 percent bonus and 1.67 percent pre-gratia.
Additionally, temporary workers in Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation. A one-time pre-Gatia payment of 3,000 will be received.
Based on their salary bracket, eligible permanent employees will get between 8,400 and ₹ 16,800 as part of this package. This decision will benefit more than 2.69 lakh employees in public sector organizations in Tamil Nadu and the cost of the government is expected to cost ₹ 376.01 crore.
Separate orders will be issued soon for employees of other cooperative and affiliated institutions. Officials said the announcement would help motivate workers and be able to celebrate them with more enthusiasm, while strengthening the government’s goodwill towards its workforce.
