Jaipur, Oct 30 (IANS) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said a grand and historical memorial dedicated to Maharana Pratap’s loyal horse Chetak will be built in Haldighati in Rajsamand district.
Chairing a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Sharma said the project will be developed as part of the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit, which aims to showcase the valor and legacy of the great Rajput warrior.
He also directed the formation of a special cell for construction of historic buildings to ensure timely and high quality execution of heritage development works across Rajasthan.
Chief Minister Sharma said that the state government is committed to the development of religious and tourist places while preserving the glorious heritage of Rajasthan.
He emphasized that the state government aims to ensure balanced progress – development with conservation – and directed officials to give top priority to projects showcasing the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of the state.
He also announced the formation of a special cell for construction and conservation of historical buildings to ensure timely and high-quality execution of such projects.
Chief Minister Maharana Pratap was presiding over a review meeting regarding the development and redevelopment of tourist circuit, Poonchari ka Lotha and Tanot Mata temple.
He said that Maharana Pratap Tourism Circuit is being developed to acquaint people with the life and bravery of Rajput king Maharana Pratap.
He said, this circuit includes places like Chavand, Haldighati, Gogunda, Kumbhalgarh, Diwar and Udaipur, with a total budget allocation of Rs 100 crore.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to systematically develop the Maharana Pratap Memorial site at Chavand, including construction of entry gates, bridges and necessary tourist facilities.
He also issued special guidelines for the design of a grand and historic monument dedicated to Maharana Pratap’s loyal horse Chetak at Haldighati.
Reviewing the redevelopment work at Tanot Mata Temple in Jaisalmer, CM Sharma directed officials to ensure better accommodation facilities for the devotees.
He also directed for the construction of temple entrance, dharamshala and improvement of approach roads to increase accessibility and convenience for pilgrims.
The Chief Minister urged the officials to expedite the tender process for the ongoing development works at Poonchari Ka Lotha and Govardhan Parikrama, so as to ensure world-class facilities for devotees at these holy sites, which are being developed in multiple phases.
Rajasthan Heritage Authority Chairman Omkar Singh Lakhawat and senior officials of the concerned departments were also present in the meeting.
