Srinagar, August 5: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote to the presidents of more than 40 political parties on Tuesday, demanding their support for the restoration of the state to Jammu and Kashmir, saying it should not be seen “not as a concession, but as an essential course improvement”.
According to officials, CM Omar called for a law to restore the state for Jammu and Kashmir during the current Parliament session, in his two-hit letter.
His appeal comes nine months after his government’s unanimous call for immediate restoration of the state, which he says, personally handed over to the Prime Minister with assurance of progress.
It also falls on the sixth anniversary of the specific status of Jammu and Kashmir and its Dwibhajan in two center areas -Ladakh and Jammu -Kashmir.
“Restoration should not be seen as a concession, but as an essential course improvement – a one that prevents us from slipping a dangerous and slippery slope, where the state of our wandering states is no longer considered as a fundamental and sacred constitutional right, but rather than a discretionary side on the central government’s will,” said the letter.
