CM Omar Exudes J&K SC Setting Deadline for J&K Restoration

It is expected that the Supreme Court will set a time limit for the restoration of the J&K state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Monday that it is “unfortunate” that the apex court is not ready to hear the case before October 10.

According to the news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), talking to reporters here, CM Omar said, “It is unfortunate that the Supreme Court is not ready to listen to the case (state restoration) before October 10. We hope that when it comes up, the court will apply a time limit and we will return soon.”

CM Omar said that under his leadership the government wants an initial hearing of the case.

He said, “This has exceeded our government for more than 10 months and from the first day we are demanding the restoration of the state,” he said.

The CM further said, “Our government’s first cabinet meeting was also about the restoration of the state and we also passed a resolution together.”

The Chief Minister said that his first meeting with the Prime Minister was also about the resolution of the restoration of the state.

“We hope the Supreme Court will do justice,” he said.

When asked about the PDP’s protest against the youth in jails, CM Omar said, “We are all concerned about the matter. We cannot do anything for this in Srinagar. The security decisions of Jammu and Kashmir are being taken by the Union Home Ministry in New Delhi.

“As I mentioned in my speech that there is a lack of awareness among the people. We have to make people aware of the plans and we have to teach them the process of applying for them. We have to understand the benefits of the schemes as well,” Omar said.

He also said that there are many schemes which were to be implemented in government offices earlier, but nowadays most of the schemes can be implemented online.

“There is a need to educate everyone about all those plans that will benefit from it,” he said (KNO)
