Srinagar, July 24, KDC: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today took a serious note of fake machine-made carpets, which passed as authentic Kashmiri hand-knot products and he is selling machine-made carpets under the label of Kashmir Handomed Carpet which instructed industries and commerce departments to take strong action against showrooms and retail shops. CM saw that these fake Kashmiri hand -made carpets would harm the famous brand globally and adversely affect the artisan families who depend on this craft for their livelihood.
Carpet Export Promotion Council, Indian Silk Export Promotion Council, Meerus Carpet Weavers Cooperative, Kashmir Carpet Cluster Development Organization and A delegation of Kashmir Carpet Manufacturers Association met the Chief Minister at Civil Secretariat Srinagar, who was calling the Chief Minister to ban the sale of machine-made carins in all handicrafts-tied showrooms. He also raised the issue of some dishonest traders using fake GI labels on machine-made carpets. He called for this craft, identity of Kashmir and preserving the livelihood of artisans.
A delegation of Manigam, Gandarbal, requested the Chief Minister to request for a safe-garden parcel in his area for future institutional use. A delegation of the HR agency voiced his complaint about his pending elements with the J&K Housing Board. A delegation of dental surgeons presented its demand for creating and filing the posts of dental surgeons.
MLA Sopore, MLA Trehgam also met the Chief Minister, so that he could discuss issues related to his constituencies.
Another delegation of the association of private schools raised many issues related to private schools before the Chief Minister, such as establishment of State School Standards Authority (SSSA), easy issuance of NOC by departments in private schools, requiring 10 years of lease for schools operating in rented houses, to work in an academic calendar.
On the issue of delays in giving NOC to private schools and delay in distribution of services, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah explained that the PSGA was held yesterday in the meeting, all the administrative secretaries were directed to operate monthly review meetings for the implementation of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Guarantee (PSGA).
It can be remembered that the Chief Minister presided over a high-level review meeting on the implementation of the Public Services Guarantee Act yesterday, in which the CM emphasized that the PSGA framework means arbitrary and tardy decisions and to eliminate the services on time that revenue records, certificates, licenses, utility connections have been strictly defined.
