Srinagar, Aug 11, KDC: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a meeting to review the master plan for the twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu, with Unified Building by-Laz (UBBL) for Jammu and Kashmir.

In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on Srinagar Master Plan -2035, Jammu Master Plan -2032, and Integrated Building Construction -2021. Commissioner Secretary H&UDD made extensive presentation on the master plan, highlighting his strategic vision, urban development patterns, infrastructure requirements and policy interventions.
Unified Building by-Sasuras were also discussed, especially related to permissible land use for residential, industrial, public and semi-public places, as well as other technical provisions aimed at streamlining urban development.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized that the master plan should reflect realistic, implementable and grassroots realities, rather than only as vision documents.
He instructed that the schemes should take into account the views of all stakeholders and it should be environmentally durable and should be able to resolve future urban challenges, preserving the cultural and ecological identity of both cities.
The Chief Minister said, “These master plans should shape the future development of our two major cities for decades. It is important that they are not only visionary, but also practical in execution, ensure embossing for citizens,” the Chief Minister said.
He directed all concerned departments to include on-ground assessment, public reaction and inter-departmental coordination to ensure successful implementation of the schemes. (KDC)
