CM Omar Abdullah is the head of Jammu after the Pakistani drone attack

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday is assessing the situation after a failed Pakistani drone attack to assess from Jammu to Jammu on Friday, which targeted Jammu city and nearby areas.

The residents reported a night of blackouts and bullets, while the army successfully neutralized all the upcoming drones.

In a post on X, Abdullah said, “Driving for Jammu for Jammu now driving for Jammu, after the Pakistani drone attack directed in Jammu city and other parts of the division.”

According to local people, a complete blackout was applied before the drone activity begins, adding anxiety in the area.

“There was a complete blackout last night, after which the drones started flying and the firing continued throughout the night. Our army is giving an answer to Pakistan. We have faith in our Prime Minister and our army. All drones were neutralized by our armies. We are proud of our country. The border is stressed but the rest is safe.”

Similarly, another local said, “As soon as we started meal last night, we heard the sound of some explosions. The explosions were heard again at around 4:30 pm, but they were also neutralized by our forces. There is nothing to worry. Our forces are on alert. Bhagwati Vaishno Devi is sitting in Jammu, nothing.”

He said, “Attacking the citizens is nothing, because there is cowardice because they (Pakistan) do not dare to fight our army. All that they can do. Our army is giving an answer and we are proud of them,” he said to ANI.

Earlier on Thursday, a full blackout was implemented in Jammu after the hearing of Siren and amid growing tension in the region, explosions were carried out along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Border Security Forces (BSF) attempted a major infiltration along the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The effort was made on 8 May at 11 pm on 8 May. In a post on X, BSF Jammu wrote, “On 8 May 2025, in about 2300 hours, BSF failed a major infiltration bid on the international border in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir.”

Additionally, defense sources confirmed that the Indian Army shot two Pakistani drones in the Nowshera region of Jammu and Kashmir. The drone was stopped amidst heavy exchange of artillery fire between Indian and Pakistani forces.

These developments come after the launch of India’s “Operation Sindor” on 7 May. During the operation, the Indian armed forces carried out missile strikes at nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Jammu and Kashmir (Pojk).

According to Indian officials, the attacks targeted the infrastructure associated with terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Tabiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Operation was performed on 22 April in response to a terrorist attack in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. (AI)
