Srinagar, May 07: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presided over an emergency meeting in an emergency meeting of all the border districts through video conferencing to assess the situation in these districts today.
The status and preparations were reviewed in view of the current development and especially in view of the Loc and districts close to Loc and districts close to the international border.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dullu, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Gupta, Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, Commissioner Secretary Food, Civil Supplies, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Secretary Health and Medical Education and Jammu, Ponch, Rajouri, Rajouri, Rajauri, Sambavar, Maamul, Maramul, Mairamaal, Mairamal, Ma Iramal, Ma Iramal, Mahalvez.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister gave directions of Rs 5 crore contingent amount of Rs 5 crore to each border district immediately and other districts for Rs 2 crore, so that the sub -aids can be equipped to deal with the availability and need of adequate resources. The CM directed that special priority should be given to the frontier districts in the disbursement of these funds.
Underlining the paramount importance of protecting civil life, CM Omar Abdullah called for strengthening infrastructure for the providing shelters and bunkers to the public in the border areas, preparing the evacuation plans, ensuring adequate stock of food supply. In relation to medical aid, the Chief Minister directed the Health Department to maintain adequate stock of necessary medical supply, ensure availability of doctors, paramedics and to keep blood supply ready in case of any decreased hospitals, especially in weak areas. He directed to move the ambulance to the border districts, looking at the cross border shelling so that the injured would be taken to hospitals in case of any casualties.
The Chief Minister expressed grief over the loss of life and injuries to many citizens living with LoC and asked the deputy commissioners to provide all assistance to the families affected. He gave the administration directions to immediately fill the vacant posts of Tehsildars and other officers in the districts so that the government machinery is completely functional and respond to the rapid situation.
The officials informed the Chief Minister on the preparations and readiness of their respective districts, assuring that they are all ready with emergency operations and all supplies have been stocked. The deputy commissioners informed the CM that they are constantly monitoring the situation and will keep the administration informed about any need to deal with the situation.
CM Omar Abdullah also directed all the officials to confront wrong information and rumors, which urged the public to rely on the verified official sources of information in these sensitive times.
