Patna, October 6 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday transferred 21 lakh beneficiaries in each of Rs 10,000 under the Mukhiyamanti Mahaila Roger Yojana through direct profit transfer (DBT).
The event was organized on CM’s residence, 1 Anne Marg, where the beneficiaries received money in their bank accounts.
It marks the third installment under the scheme. So far, 1.21 crore women have benefited in Bihar, each has received Rs 10,000.
Earlier, on 3 October, the Chief Minister transferred Rs 10,000 to 25 lakh women in each.
On 26 September, with the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 75 million women received assistance under the scheme.
The announcement announced on August 29, Mahailla Roger Yojana, was implemented within a month and has emerged as one of the largest women’s empowerment projects of Nitish Kumar government in the run-up for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
Through this initiative, the state government aims to financially support women and promote employment opportunities, while also strengthening their election outreach among women voters.
Addressing the program, CM Nitish Kumar said, “The Bihar government will provide up to Rs 2 lakh to women whose business runs successfully. With this micro -level investment, the plan will benefit the entire families.”
Highlighting the initiative of women empowerment, she said that since November 24, 2005, the NDA government had given 50 percent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj Institutions, also extended it for urban local bodies in 2007 and provided 35 percent reservation for women in government jobs this year.
He also noted the rise of 1.40 crore Jeevika Didis under the initiative of self-help-group. Apart from the transfer, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the foundation stone for 264 developmental schemes of the Energy Department of Rs 5,847.66 crore and also inaugurated the foundation stones.
These projects include power substation, transformer installation and establishment of electrical wires to strengthen Bihar’s power infrastructure.
Vice Presidents Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were present on the occasion, along with senior leaders and top bureaucrats.
