CM Fadnavis says

Thane, 22 September (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that by the end of December 2026, the country’s longest metro line will be launched between Thane and Mumbai at a distance of 58 km, which connects the eastern suburbs, western suburbs, Mumbai city and Thanh city.

The metro route includes metro 4, 4A, 10 and 11.

The Chief Minister also announced that 45 hectares of land has been provided in Mogharpad in Thane, Maharashtra to construct depots for all these metro lines.

Chief Minister fadnavis, who was accouncyized by deputy minister and Mumbai metropolitan region development authority (mmrda) Chairman Eknath Shinde, was speaking at the inauguration of the technical Inspection and Trial Run of Phase-1 Gaimukh Junction Connecting Gaimukh Village-halfbunder road-kasarvadavali-vijayjay garden garden priority action of metro route 4 (wadala-kasarvadavali) and metro Route 4 (Kasaravadwali-Gamukh).

Giving information about the metro route 4 and 4A, Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the total length of the Ghatkopar-Mulund-Mimukh Metro route is 35 km, out of which the metro root is 42 km and the metro 4A is 2.88 km.

He said that there are a total of 32 stations on the metro route and the cost of the project is expected to be Rs 16,000 crore.

“When all metro lines of this metro are operational, more than 21 lakh passengers will travel daily. It will save 50 to 75 percent travel time, dicking roads, and will provide citizens with safe, environmentally friendly and comfortable transport.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the 58 km long height metro project is the first such project in India.

He said that the project will play an important role in solving the traffic problem in Mumbai.

MMRDA said in a statement that inspection evaluated whether all systems are in line with the requirements of the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).

Viaducts, tracks and overhead equipment are fully completed, it was added.

The statement stated that data was collected for load calculations and software configurations, while the integration of all systems required for safe operation was also verified.

Passenger safety remains the top priority of MMRDA.

An independent safety evaluator will follow the certification process, after which CMRS approval will be sought. This metro corridor will be opened for the passengers of the country only on obtaining all statutory approval.
