Patna, October 30 (IANS) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for ‘insulting’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chhath Puja and women devotees.

Speaking to reporters after addressing a rally in support of the BJP candidate in Kalyanpur, CM Dhami said, “Rahul Gandhi’s derogatory remarks on Chhath Puja show that he is neither familiar with India’s rich Sanatan culture nor respects our folk faith.”

Uttarakhand CM said, “By calling the fast of our mothers and sisters a sham, they have insulted the entire state of Bihar.”

He said that it seems that Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother Indira Gandhi, mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have not taught him any values.

CM Dhami said, “Rahul Gandhi’s comment shows his small mentality.” He said Gandhi has also forgotten the Indian tradition of respecting elders and has used inappropriate language against Prime Minister Modi.

In a message on Twitter, CM Dhami said, “The godlike people of Bihar, especially our mother power who keeps fast on Chhath Puja, will definitely give a befitting reply to such people in the coming elections.”

Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of insulting PM Modi and Chhathi Maiya.

He said that the people of Bihar will give a befitting reply to the Congress and the Grand Alliance in the upcoming assembly elections.

Addressing a public rally in Lakhisarai in support of BJP candidate and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Home Minister Shah said, ‘Rahul Gandhi, your workers insulted PM Modi’s mother and you used abusive language against PM Modi and now you have insulted Chhathi Maiya.’

HM Shah said, “This is Bihar, and the people here will give a befitting reply to you and the grand alliance on November 6 and 11. When the ballot boxes open on November 14, the alliance will be wiped out.”

His comment came when LOP Gandhi, while addressing an election rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Wednesday, launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi and criticized his proposed symbolic ‘Yamuna Snan’ during Chhath Puja, calling it a pretentious photo opportunity.

LoP Gandhi had said, “There was no Yamuna ji there – just a pond filled with clean water for Modi ji. Clean water was brought through pipes for his photo-op, whereas real India bathes in polluted water.”

The Home Minister also launched a scathing attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress party and accused them of leading the era of jungle raj and corruption.

He said, “Before 2005, the whole of Bihar was in the grip of jungle raj. All industries, businesses and trade were closed; only one business was flourishing – kidnapping and ransom. Heinous crimes and murders were rampant under the rule of Lalu and Rabri.”

He credited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for transforming Bihar after assuming power in 2005.
