Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal says many people in the Hunter region will only just be waking up to the news of a fatal bush crash which has killed at least 10 people.
“We’re a small, closeknit community,” Mr Suvaal told Sky News Australia.
“I’m sure there’ll be many shows of support throughout the day.”
