Congress leader Jeram Ramesh on Tuesday attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah a sharp attack on his statement that “peace has been established in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast”.
Ramesh called the “davas” “utterly” and “baseless” by the Union Home Minister, saying that it was designed to “draw attention” from the failures of the government.
In a social media post on X, the Congress MP wrote, “The claims made by the Union Home Minister about peace in Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur are absurd and baseless. These claims are actually made to divert attention from their own huge failures.”

The Congress MP further alleged that the law and order situation in Manipur is in a “poor” situation and the President’s rule in the state is called “total failure”.
The social media post reads, “Manipur is still burning. The President’s rule has proved to be a total failure. The law and order situation in the state is extremely bad. The daily life and the suffering of common people have given rise to suffering, despair and anger among them, which can be felt everywhere.”
Criticizing the tenure of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Congress MP alleged, “The Union Home Minister can neither punish the terrorists of Pahgam nor restore the general situation in Manipur. Yet he is considering his alleged achievements in these two states. Achievement, then it is a different case.”
On Monday, the Union Home Minister said that 11 years of the Modi government has proved to be a milestone under the direction of national security citing peace in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast.
In a social media post, Shah wrote, “#11yearsofseva has also proved to be a milestone towards national security. Naxalism is on its last leg, peace is established in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast, and India now responds to terrorist attacks by entering terrorists’ homes. It shows the changing picture of India.”
