Officials said Srinagar, May 30: The counter rebellion of Jammu and Kashmir Police Kashmir Wing on Friday raided several places in the valley and seized SIM cards, mobile phones and other digital equipment, which could be used for terrorist activities, officials said.
A CIK spokesperson said in a statement, “Budgam, Pulwama, Avantpora, Kupwara, Srinagar districts were conducted.”
The spokesperson said during the investigation, some suspects were reportedly found using a specific encrypted messaging application, which is used by terrorists and their handlers to coordinate and execute terrorist activities including recruitment in terrorist ranks from across the border.
He said, “These users are suspected to be in contact with suspects across the border. Thus, the discoveries were carefully planned and operated, while maintaining an element of surprise,” he said.
The spokesperson said that SIM cards, mobile phones, tablets and other digital devices were increased in the form of materials, impacting the case investigation, recovered and seized.
“The analysis of data will follow and move forward which will become the basis of further investigation,” he said.
The spokesperson said the purpose of the operation is to highlight important evidence, curb illegal activities, prevent the misuse of communication equipment, such as mobile phones, and terrorist colleagues and overground workers (OGWS) and destroy terrorist ecosystem in the union sector to reduce terrorism by identifying terrorism and ensuring legal action as land.
