CIK detains radical social media user in Srinagar

Counter Intelligence Kashmir said on Tuesday that it has detained a radical social media user to spread anti-national material.

A police spokesperson said that in a continuous attempt, to curb social media misuse, for radical activities and to save Kashmiri youth from becoming fodder with radical social media handles, Counter Intelligence Kashmir, (CIK) is in custody on 6 May 2025 today.

Radical social media users, social media X-handle ‘Hilal Mir’ and Facebook account ‘Mir Hilal’ is used to disturb peace and promote disagreement and separatist ideology and to spread India in the intention of promoting India in bad shape, he said.

Social media abuser Hilal Mir @ Hilal Saki was also actively engaged in posting and sharing, which was engaged in sharing materials with the aim of provoking the separatist spirit by depicting Kashmiris as a victim of provocative of emotions among the young minds and to abolish systemic furious. Their positions reflect a veil effort to cultivate public outrage which is a threat to safety/sovereignty.

Initial inspection of ‘digital devices’ revealed access to radical account and other extremist / deformed material / promotion.

During the initial analysis, the suspect was also found to be in contact with some suspected foreign based cell numbers involved in suspicious activities, possibly taking a dictation from the opponent to harass peace and peace in the valley which is a case of investigation. The suspect has been brought under investigation and further investigation is on, it concludes.
